Are you looking for a great experience as a volunteer in Phuket, Thailand?
The Asia Center Foundation (ACF) welcomes volunteers for short and long term. They come from all around the world and are happy to share with their experience:
“I enjoyed everything – the help from everybody at ACF. The experience, the children, ACF staff and finding out our own strengths and how we could utilize them for ACF.”
– Skye (Australia)
“The experience was amazing, I met some truly wonderful people and we were exposed to the amazing work you do. I feel so priviledged to have been a part of it. I don’t want to leave. These kids are incredible and I want to spend more time with them.”
– Alex (Australia)
“Wonderful! No words can explain my happiness. I’ve regained something I lost a long time ago.”
– Gary (Sweden)
“We had a unique and amazing time volunteering for one month at Asia Center Foundation (ACF). At first, we were a bit intimidated by the overwhelming energy of the 70 young kids of the Patong child care center but after great fun at our first English lesson we felt so good! These kids are surprising and loving despite their difficult background… We think it is a real blessing that an organization like ACF is there to provide them education and care, it really makes a difference and gives them hope for the future. We also had the opportunities to visit 30 families who have one (or more) child who benefits from an ACF Scholarship. It was really an eye opener on the very hard and poor condition of many people in Thailand. We felt that ACF was giving them not only financial support but moral support as well, which seemed quite invaluable.
All the best for your future plans, we will miss the team and the “dek dek” (children in Thai). Thank you once again and see you soon!”
– Tim and Lucie (France)
“I have had a very nice experience by working at Asia Center Foundation. It has been interesting and broadening. In the beginning everyone was so nice to us and you helped us with the accommodation etc. They also gave us a very good introduction to the work. The teachers and K. Arree have been very kind to us all the time. Our work assignments were fine even if the heat was very exhausting. I have never been teaching English before this but I really liked it and it was exciting and interesting. The culture shock was quite big at first but during my stay here I have been more used to the manners and procedures of Thai people.
Overall I’m very happy with this experience. Thank you so much for everything!”
– Sari (Finland) through Asia Exchange
“First, I want to thank you all for this great opportunity to work with you at Patong Childcare Center (PCC). It has been more instructive practical training that I ever thought. The whole time that I spent in PCC opened my mind very much. I got to follow the cultural differences up close and they were very different in relation to our culture. Everyone was very helpful to us and told us what we had to do. Sometimes the language was in the way, but I don’t see that in big problem.
I hope you all very best and nice time in very important job by helping children and their families.”
– Marjaana (Finland)
“Before coming to Asia Center Foundation, being a babysitter for my brother and his friends was all the experience I had with kids. In Spain, 5-year-old kids are always arguing about the toys they have or they don’t or even about money, which they should be happy with everything they already have (toys, family, school,…). Here, they’ve got many more problems but they look much happier and another thing that surprised me has been that they share everything. Observing the way they behave has been very fulfilling after knowing their backgrounds. About the staff here, they’ve been all very nice/kind with me although the language has sometimes been an obstacle (eg., cutting carrots!).
So, if this summer I have some free weeks, I won’t doubt about coming again.”
– Jaime (Spain)
“First of all, I just want to say thank you for having me and letting me be a part of your organization. There are some things that have been difficult for me but overall it has all been good, but I think that’s normal because I come from another country and culture. But overall I think that the teachers are doing a great work with what they have and they can be really creative. I have been very well treated and I’m never gonna forget this amazing and wonderful time. I love Patong Childcare Center and I’m sure I’m gonna come back and visit you, so you can all take that as a huge compliment!”
– Sanna (Sweden)
“I’m so glad that I chose to spend my three months practice with you wonderful people at Asia Center Foundation. I had a great time at Patong Childcare Center and I’ve learned so much by working with you and the children. What you do is invaluable and I wish we had more people like you in this world. I’m proud to have been a part of the team even if it was only for a short time. You cannot get to know each child very well in such short time, but some of them really got me. Thank you for believing in these children every day and giving them what they need. Missing all of you every day, can’t wait to go visit you.”
– Ida (Sweden)
“I had a blast working with Asia Center Foundation for three months! I helped, cared and taught the children at the Patong Childcare Center everyday and enjoyed every minute of it. The kids, teachers and other staff are all so sweet and loving. I truly felt like I was part of a big culturally diverse family. They will hold a special place in my heart forever and I would go back and help in a second!”
– Sarah & Megan (USA)
– Victoria and Alberto (Spain)
“Asia Center Foundation team is very open and warm. A laugh is always close and it feels like it is a big family when you work here. I feel that everyone is willing to help me if I ask for it and I definitely feel like a part of the team.
I really do feel that I got what I needed and wished according to my purpose of stay here.”
CHANGE YOUR LIFE BY CHANGING OTHERS!
– Emma (Sweden)
“I just want to tell you that it’s been a life changing experience. To see how much you do for the children, it really made me feel that it is possible to help and change lives. It’s the best thing I’ve ever done and I would love to do it again. We really noticed how happy the children are, and honestly I think it’s thanks to you. They need someone who believes in them. Thanks to all of this, it opened my eyes to what I want to do next.”
